FTA operates a number of E-Lists for the benefit of members and select public groups.  All E-Lists are moderated for appropriate use.  E-Lists are designed to allow for the communication and proliferation of best practices and knowledge among tax administration staff within defined subject areas.

FTA Provides Member-Only E-Lists on the following topics (public E-Lists are indicated below).  The email address of the E-List is the list's name @lists.taxadmin.org.  If that list's email address is different, it is noted below:

  • Open to Public (Industry and Subject-Matter Professionals)

Registering for E-Lists

To subscribe, log-in to the www.taxadmin.org website, go to the My Account page, select E-Lists on the My Features menu.  From there you can manage all of your E-List preferences.  If you are interested in an above E-List and do not see it on your available lists page, contact us.  If you do not have a TaxAdmin.org account, you can request one by emailing [email protected].

Sending a Message

To send a message to an E-List, you may send an email from your registered email address (your TaxAdmin.org Username) to the list's short name at the email address [email protected].  Contact [email protected] if you experience any issues using the E-List system.

We hope that you will employ these lists as resources to answer your own questions about issues within other states, and contribute to the knowledge of others by participating freely in responding to questions from others. If list or message flow becomes too unwieldy, we'll consider creating additional E-Lists in the future. E-Lists should not be used to exchange sensitive taxpayer information.

FTA (and the entire tax administration community) appreciates your participation. Please use this resource as all will benefit!

Frequently Asked Questions

How to unsubscribe from an E-List
On your My Account page, select E-Lists on the My Features menu.  From there you can manage all of your E-List preferences.

How others can join
Any state revenue/tax agency employee of an FTA Member with a www.taxadmin.org account may join the E-Lists as outlined above.  If you don't have an account at www.taxadmin.org, email [email protected]

When your E-List e-mail is rejected
Our E-lists can't handle attachments larger than 2MB. If you need to send an attachment larger than 2MB, you will have to individually address your e-mail.

How to improve your message
It will be very helpful to everyone if you (1) make your subject line as descriptive as possible; and (2) remember to include your name and agency at the end of the message. Otherwise, in some e-mail systems, it can be nearly impossible to figure out who sent the message. (Phone numbers are also helpful).

Another way we can help
If you need to send a personal e-mail to an individual on an E-List whose address you don't have, send a message to Ryan Minnick at [email protected] for assistance.
