Preliminary Program

The 48th Annual Conference of the Midwestern States Association of Tax Administrators will take place at The Madison Concourse Hotel downtown in Madison, WI, “A Great City Between Two Lakes,” from August 17 through 19, 2008.

Conference Schedule

The conference begins with registration on Sunday, August 17, and concludes with the Closing Banquet on Tuesday, August 19. General session will be held on Monday. Topics are organized around state business taxes, economic trends, how state Revenue Departments can be more efficient and effective and state tax administration. On Monday will be the luncheon speaker, Amy Lynch, who will speak on Generation Y. On Tuesday concurrent sessions will be held organized around audit, electronic solutions, collections/compliance and property tax.

Local Arrangements

During the 2008 MSATA Annual Conference, the Wisconsin Department of Revenue will do its best to ensure that you have every opportunity to experience the sights and activities that Madison offers. We hope you will join us for the social events highlight below.

Opening Reception

On Sunday afternoon at The Madison Concourse Hotel in the exhibitor area, there will be an opportunity to meet vendors and view their exhibits. The opening reception will be held on Sunday evening at the Overture Center for the Arts and will feature musical entertainment. The reception will begin at 6:00 p.m. and is open to conference attendees and their guests.

On Monday evening a reception will be hosted at the Governor’s Residence. There will be a lot of Wisconsin hospitality, accompanied by the University of Wisconsin Marching Band for entertainment. The event will begin at 6:00 p.m. and is open to conference attendees and their guests.

Closing Banquet

Tuesday evening will feature a banquet at the hotel with entertainment and special surprises. The event will begin at 6:30 p.m. and is open to conference attendees and their guests.

Optional Sunday Outing

The Annual golf tournament will be held Sunday morning at the University Ridge Golf Course. Located in the rolling hills and natural Wisconsin woodlands, University Ridge is about ten miles from downtown Madison. This player-friendly course was designed by Robert Trents Jones, Jr.

The tournament format is a four-person scramble, with a shotgun start and is open to conference attendees and guests. Information about the tournament fee, club rental, registration and transportation is available on the conference website.
