Nebraska
Welcomes You to the
2005 FTA Motor Fuel Tax Section Annual Meeting!
September 25-28, 2005
ENTERTAINMENT
Jamie Swanson is an Omaha native and excellent musician. While he plays numerous instruments, he will be on the keyboard during our reception Sunday evening. Jamie has toured the world performing and singing with the group, “Up with People”. He is a professional musician; however, in his spare time, he helps his wife raise three children, coaches two soccer teams, and works with computers and software in his day job.
Jamie will be joined by Brian Leichner, also of Omaha. Brian’s main claim to fame is that he is married to Motor Fuels own Marcia Leichner. He is also an accomplished musician having played the guitar since he was 14 years old. Brian currently does both solo gigs, as well as performing with two or three different bands. He loves to perform and has been described as a human juke box because he can play hundreds of songs from memory as long as you stuff enough coins into him. Marcia claims that he is very talented and charismatic (may be somewhat biased) and in his spare time helps her raise their three children and Harley, their dog. In his day job, Brian is in the “people-leasing” business.

Father Val J. Peter will be the guest speaker for Monday’s luncheon. Father Peter is the Executive Director of Father Flanagan’s Girls & Boys Town until his retirement on June 30, 2005. Father Peter, a Nebraska native, assumed the post on June 15, 1985 and is the fourth executive director of Girls & Boys Town. He is the caretaker of Father Flanagan’s dream of changing the way America cares for her children and families. Father Peter has led the growth of Girls & Boys Town from the Village of Boys Town, Nebraska, to 19 sites in 15 states and Washington D.C. Under his direction, Girls & Boys Town has provided direct care, including hospital treatment, to more than 35,000 children each year. Through outreach and training programs, each year over one million are helped. A longtime educator, Father Peter holds doctorate degrees in canon law and theology, and is the author of numerous books and scholarly articles. He was recently awarded the Distinguished NEBRASKAlander Award.
Craig Estudillo is our favorite Nebraska Disc Jockey! He’ll be spinning discs for us throughout the evening Tuesday. Got a favorite? Just request it, and Craig will play it. If by some chance it is not in his repertoire, he may well hum a few bars for you! Craig has been in the business for more than 20 years as Estudillo Productions and provides a wide range of services. He is a regular announcer for the Nebraska Huskers baseball team and the Lincoln Stars hockey team. He frequently announces high school sports as well as being the voice of numerous tv and radio commercials. Craig also travels the country as a public speaker and a Christian motivational speaker. His vast experiences cover everything from sports to beauty pageants to the Governor’s Inaugural Ball.
At the banquet, Nebraskan T. Marni Vos will be our featured entertainer. Marni is a clean and refreshing humorist who is as funny as she is inspiring. She is a motivational speaker who entertains with her keynotes while she motivates and inspires her audience to be top performers at work and as individuals. She leaves her audience not only with an additional communication tool but laughing, free of stress, and ready for change.
Marni became one of only seven women in 20 years to be a Finalist in the prestigious San Francisco International Stand-up Comedy Competition, where over 400 comics competed each year. She has performed on Lifetime’s “Girls Night Out” and opened for Jay Leno at the Comedy and Magic Club in Hermosa Beach. |
