Conference Schedule

preliminary program is now available.

The conference agenda will be a mix of general and concurrent breakout sessions with topics of interest to revenue estimators and state tax policy analysts.  Monday morning will begin with the usual economic outlook by the major forecasting firms and selected policy topics of interest to everyone.  In the afternoon, conference attendees will have a choice of two sessions featuring: detailed forecasts for specific sectors of the economy; and presentations of interest to tax policy researchers.

The entire day Tuesday will be dedicated to concurrent breakout sessions with a wide variety of specific topics. Some topics we are planning include: corporate tax issues, streamlined sales tax project, federal and state tax reform, compliance research, and more.

On Wednesday morning, conference participants will hear a variety of presentations of general interest to state economists and policy analysts.  A preliminary program will be available by mid-July.  If you would like to make a presentation or know of a presenter, please contact the Section Chair, Mary Welsh at maryw@dor.wa.gov or Ronald Alt.

Local Arrangements
The FTA 2005 meeting in Oklahoma City is your opportunity to enjoy the warmth and friendliness that Oklahoma is known for and at the same time learn about the Traditions of the Heartland.  Sunday evening attendees will be treated to an Opening Reception welcoming them to Oklahoma City, the capitol of the State of Oklahoma.  Tuesday evening attendees will be able to enjoy an evening of fun while enjoying dinner with a Southwest flair. You'll definitely want to bring your boots and cowboy hats for this night!

Attendees arriving to Oklahoma City on Saturday have the opportunity to take in one of Oklahoma's favorite pastimes-OU football.  Although the Sooners will travel south of the Red River to Texas that weekend, we'll have a watch party set up for one of the greatest college football rivalries.

And if you think that Oklahoma is just about football then that's where you're wrong.  The conference site is located in the heart of downtown Oklahoma City, two blocks west of Bricktown (http://www.bricktownokc.com/index.shtml), formerly a warehouse district now converted to a booming entertainment district.  Other downtown attractions include the Oklahoma City Art Museum (http://www.okcmoa.com/), the Myriad Gardens (http://www.myriadgardens.com/index.html) and the Oklahoma City National Memorial (http://www.oklahomacitynationalmemorial.org/).

Hotel Reservations
The conference will be held at the Sheraton Oklahoma City Hotel, which is located on One North Broadway, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73102. The hotel is located in the heart of Oklahoma City's business and entertainment districts and is connected to the Cox Business Services Convention Center and most of downtown by an underground concourse.

The conference rate is $117 (single/double occupancy).  Please make your reservations directly with the hotel by calling 405-235-2780 or 1-800-325-3535.  Notify the reservations clerk that you will be attending the FTA 2005 Revenue Estimating Meeting, to receive the special rate.  Please note that the cutoff date for making hotel reservations is September 15, 2005.  After this date, reservations will be based on availability only.
