Government-only Session April 24-25. New this year is a separate government-only meeting designed to encourage the open communication of matters that are unique to state and federal tax agencies. This meeting will begin at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 24 and end at Noon on April 25. This session will consist primarily of facilitated discussions on issues that have been identified by the states. An agenda for this meeting will be posted to TaxExchange only at www.taxexchange.org as this is a government-only meeting. Although there is no separate registration fee for this special meeting, please check off the registration form in the appropriate place if you plan to attend.

FTA/NACTP 2-D Barcode Standards Working Meeting April 24-25. Following the conclusion of the E-File Symposium, there will be a working meeting on 2-D Barcoding Standards for Tax Processing. Anyone interested in the maintenance and development of such standards (including those not attending the Symposium) is invited to attend. Taking place on Wednesday, April 24 from 1:30-5 pm, and Thursday, April 25 from 8:30-noon, it will feature a review of the 2002 Filing Season, with the aim to examine the current 2-D Standards (found at www.taxadmin.org/fta/edi/2-dcurrent.html) for continued utility and update them if necessary. A draft of any suggested changes is expected to be posted on the FTA web site prior to the meeting for your review. There is no registration fee for the 2-D meeting, but (if you are attending the Symposium) please check off the registration form in the appropriate place if you plan to attend.

XML Standards Working Meeting - Tax Information Group for EC Requirements Standardization (TIGERS) April 24-26. Also following the conclusion of the E-File Symposium, there will be a working meeting on Tax XML Standards. It will take place on Wednesday, April 24 from 1:30-5 pm, and Thursday, April 25 from 8:30am-4:30 pm, and Friday April 26 from 8:30am-noon. Anyone interested in the maintenance and development of such standards (including those not attending the Symposium) is invited to attend. A draft agenda will be posted on the FTA web site prior to the meeting for your review. The session will feature a review of the current status of efforts to develop standard XML tax schemas and schema parts designed for re-use across jurisdictions; common XML tag names, and standard XML transport and packaging. Current draft documents for comment and other XML information can be found at www.taxadmin.org/fta/edi/1205ann.html. Again, there is no registration fee for the XML meeting, but (if you are attending the Symposium) please check off the registration form in the appropriate place if you plan to attend.

Federal/State TeleFile Kick-off Meeting. IRS and state partners will discuss highlights of the 2002 Filing Season and review plans for 2003. This meeting will begin at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 24 and end at Noon on April 25. There is no registration fee for this meeting.
