FTA ANNUAL MEETING • MAY 28-31, SEATTLE, WA

Preliminary Program

Summary

The Sixty-ninth Annual Meeting of the Federation of Tax Administrators will take place May 28-31, 2001, at the Westin Hotel, in Seattle, Washington, featuring a mix of general and concurrent sessions. The hotel and conference registration deadline is April 26. This bulletin features the preliminary program. Program updates will be available on the conference web site www.fta2001.com.

Conference Schedule
The meeting begins with registration on Monday, May 28, and concludes at noon on Thursday, May 31. General sessions will be held Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings. In-depth sessions organized around legal/policy developments, compliance and management initiatives, technology developments, sales tax simplification, and electric power deregulation are scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons. The Annual Business Meeting will take place on Thursday morning. The opening reception will be held at the hotel on Monday evening. Wednesday evening will feature a banquet at the Boeing Museum of Flight. Tuesday evening is left free for participants to enjoy the sights, sounds and rich diversity of the great city of Seattle.

Local Arrangements
Conference social events include an opening reception Monday evening, while Wednesday evening will feature a banquet at the Boeing Museum of Flight. Enjoy cuisine of the Pacific Northwest while examining amazing aircraft and learning about the history of aviation. Golfers may wish to take advantage of the Monday morning golf tournament.

In addition to Monday’s opening reception and Wednesday’s banquet, other events are planned for registered guests of delegates. On Tuesday, there will be a city and harbor tour followed by a visit to the world-famous Pike Place Market. Wednesday is left free for guests to plan their own special outings around town. Plenty of information will be available for enjoying a memorable visit to the Emerald City. Also, the Seattle Mariners are at home May 29.

Conference Registration

Registration fees are:

$270 for government delegates
$375 for nongovernment delegates
$150 for guests

To register, complete the enclosed form, including golf and guest activity if applicable, with payment for all activities made payable to FTA 2001 Conference, and send to:

Hotel Reservations
Conference headquarters is the Westin Hotel, located at 1900 Fifth Ave, Seattle, WA 98101. Hotel rates for the conference are, single occupancy $153 and double occupancy $175. The deadline for making hotel reservations at FTA’s special rates is April 26. Reservations made after that date are subject to space and rate availability. Make reservations with calling them at (800) 228-3000 or (206) 728-1000, stating that the reservation is for the Federation of Tax Administrators Annual Meeting.

Please note there is now no room availability on Saturday, May 26 at the Westin. The conference overflow property is the nearby Mayflower Park Hotel, 405 Olive Way. Reservations may be made by calling (800) 426-5100 or sending an e-mail to mayflowerpark@mayflowerpark.com and requesting the Federation of Tax Administrators rate.
