Historic Charm

  • Nashville's history begins more than 200 years ago. Long before the first guitar picker moved into town, the settlement of Nashborough-named after Revolutionary War hero Gen. Francis Nash-was being constructed as a fort on the west banks of the Cumberland River in 1779-80.

  • Andrew Jackson was elected the seventh president in 1828. He built his plantation, The Hermitage, for his beloved wife Rachel. The home and acreage remain today one of the few presidential homes with a majority of the original furnishings on display.

Entertainment

  • MSN Travel ranked Nashville 13th on the coolest American Cities list. "Nashville, Tenn., is the heart and soul of country music in America. A newly revitalized downtown district, however, features several clubs that showcase emerging and established rock and blues acts." Nashville's connection to music is unequalled, and its reputation as Music City has been consistently proven for over 200 years. Welcome to the most musical city in the world. Music City-the only Music City!

Attractions

  • Nashville's Attractions evokes vivid images - a single spotlight illuminating a microphone, skyscrapers towering protectively over the Mother Church of Country Music, stately Southern mansions or a Greek temple sitting serenely on a grassy knoll. The area's many attractions paint a picture of this unique Southern city and leave an indelible impression on all who visit.
